Artificial Intelligence Can’t Solve Cancer Unless It Gets The Right Data — Here’s How One Company Is Helping
$80M funding round closed for UPenn spinoff Vivodyne, which developed HIVE robotic labs to cultivate 20 kinds of human tissue for training AI algorithms to predict chemo response (with 94–100% accuracy)
$80M has been secured in a funding round for UPenn spinoff Vivodyne, which has developed HIVE robotic labs for growing 20 kinds of human tissue to train AI algorithms to predict how well chemo will work (with 94–100% accuracy). This is twice the speed of all US animal testing put together.
Currently, 90% of drugs that show promise in mouse trials don’t work in humans because AI is trained on cell slice data instead of live tissue response. But if we can train AI on human-quality data, then pharmacology will no longer be a game of chance, and we can systematically hunt down cures for cancer.
