Ox Alpha, an open reasoning model for coding & long horizon agentic tasks which was anonymously posted on OpenRouter and rapidly climbed up the world ranking, is developed by Chinese research group Z.ai (GLM series). Its weights will be published on Wednesday.
This anonymous release demonstrates that a good model without any reputation can easily stand out in the market and become popular. In addition, Z.ai has released GLM-5.3 this month, which performs well against top Western models on several metrics. As time goes by, Z.ai is becoming more and more influential.
