Free offline AI that answers emergency questions with sources

Survival LLM is a free AI assistant with a library of nearly 1.5 million survival and medical articles that answers offline and shows the exact source for every answer.

It's an app that searches an offline library of emergency and medical articles and cites the exact passage it read, instead of answering from memory.

When it helps

Useful as a free backup for blackouts or no internet; it won't replace a doctor or work as your everyday AI assistant.

Pros

  • Works fully offline once installed
  • Every answer links to a specific source
  • You can add your own files, like a medicine list
  • Free, no subscription

Cons

  • Needs a computer with 16 GB memory or more for AI answers
  • Weaker models make mistakes and sometimes give risky advice
  • Narrow library tool, not a general-purpose assistant

How to set it up — step by step

  1. 1Download the Mac or Windows build from https://github.com/anonnerdfrenzy/survival-llm while you still have internet.
  2. 2Open the app once while online — it checks your computer's memory and downloads a matching model.
  3. 3Send the agent the text from the block below if you're installing through an AI agent like Claude Code or Codex.
  4. 4Pick the "Everything" or "Essentials" library during setup.
  5. 5Turn off the internet and ask a question, like about a first-aid kit or a blackout.
  6. 6Check the answer — open its source list below and make sure it matches your question.

Text for your agent

Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:

Set up Survival LLM from https://github.com/anonnerdfrenzy/survival-llm — download the build for my computer (Mac or Windows) following the README, run it offline, and ask it a first-aid or power-outage question. Show me the answer with its list of sources.

Needs a Mac or Windows computer with at least 16 GB of RAM — on 8 GB you can only search the library, without AI-generated answers.
