An AI agent with one chat that never resets and never forgets
UniiChat is an AI agent with a single chat and no 'new chat' button: you talk to it for days, weeks, or years, and it remembers.
It's an agent with one long conversation that never resets. Old messages aren't deleted — they're compressed into short notes you can expand back into the original text.
When it helps
Useful for a long personal project that stretches over weeks or months and needs memory across sessions. Skip it for one-off tasks or if a normal chat with a 'new chat' button is enough.
Pros
- Remembers the whole conversation, never drops old details
- Same chat reachable from browser and terminal
- Self-hosted server is free — you only pay the model vendor
- Expands compressed summaries back into original messages
Cons
- Nearly all code was written by AI agents — expect bugs
- Needs your own paid Anthropic or OpenAI API key
- Requires Bun and server setup, not a ready-made app
How to set it up — step by step
- 1Open your AI agent (Claude Code or Codex) in your project folder.
- 2Have your Anthropic or OpenAI API key ready — the server needs it to run.
- 3Send the agent the text from the block below.
- 4Give the agent your key when it asks for it.
- 5Check that the server started and the chat opened in your browser.
- 6Send a first message and try asking the agent to expand a summary back into the original text.
Text for your agent
Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:
Set up UniiChat from https://github.com/VictorTaelin/uniichat — follow the README (you'll need Bun and my Anthropic or OpenAI key, ask me for it), start the server and show me the chat open in a browser.
Runs on a regular laptop — no GPU needed, just the Bun runtime and your own API key (Anthropic or OpenAI).
