Turn a description into a picture with readable text on it
MOSS-Image is a model that turns a text description into an image with clear, readable text inside it, including full sentences in Chinese.
It's a text-to-image generator: write a description, get a picture. Its main trick is drawing readable text right on the image.
When it helps
Useful for stickers, signs, posters, and mockups that need exact text in a specific spot. It won't run without an NVIDIA GPU, and it's not for final commercial images.
Pros
- Draws readable text on the image, even full Chinese sentences
- Set the exact position of every object via a JSON layout file
- Free, open-source model under the Apache 2.0 license
- Try it without installing anything, via a browser demo
Cons
- Needs an NVIDIA GPU with ~8GB VRAM, won't run without one
- Text layout comes out less tidy than the fine-tuned SFT version
- Developers don't compare it against commercial services
How to set it up — step by step
- 1Open the MOSS-Image demo on Hugging Face Spaces in your browser — no install needed.
- 2Send the agent the text from the block below, adding your own image description.
- 3Check the result — make sure the text in the image reads correctly.
- 4For local use, install Python 3.10+ and an NVIDIA GPU with CUDA and ~8GB VRAM.
- 5Need an exact layout — describe object and text positions in a JSON file instead of plain text.
Text for your agent
Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:
Open the MOSS-Image demo on Hugging Face Spaces (https://huggingface.co/spaces/OpenMOSS-Team/MOSS-Image), generate an image from my description with some text in it, and show me the result.
You need an NVIDIA GPU with CUDA support and about 8 GB of VRAM (based on model size - about 10 GB in full form, about 3 GB in a lighter 4-bit version); a regular laptop without a dedicated GPU will not run it.
