Anthropic is hiring a team of custom silicon designers

Anthropic is looking to build a team to develop their own custom silicon for Claude. Possibly collaborating with Samsung. OpenAI has Jalapeño, Google has TPU, and Meta has MTIA.

By developing their own custom chip, Anthropic won’t have to pay Nvidia’s premium prices, and they can control the rate at which they release new inference speeds. This way, they can maintain low AI costs like Google & Meta, but charge exorbitant fees to anyone who wants to use external hardware.
