Anthropic has signed a 20-year contract with bitcoin miner Riot Platforms worth $9.1 billion — with an option to extend to $16.1 billion. The facility in Rockdale, Texas will deliver 191 MW of capacity: the first 96 MW will be ready by December 2027, with the remainder coming online by June 2028.
Crypto mining companies are becoming key infrastructure suppliers for AI labs — two technology supercycles have found common ground. Anthropic has now locked in commitments of over $50 billion with Amazon, Google, SpaceX, and now Riot: the race for compute is moving at a pace unseen in corporate history.
