OpenAI is lifting the text chat limit for free ChatGPT accounts — starting next week, conversations will be unlimited. Free users will also get GPT-5.6 Luna (62% fewer factual errors than GPT-5.5) and a 'Think' button for complex queries. Restrictions will remain only on files, images, voice mode, and image generation.
OpenAI is turning its free tier into a full-fledged product at the very moment ChatGPT surpassed 1 billion weekly users. Unlimited chats are a bet that someone who drops by 'just to try it' will stick around for good.
