Claude Opus 5.5: Fable 5.1-Level Performance, 40% Cheaper

Anthropic has released Claude Opus 5.5, the first model of the new generation. On Terminal-Bench 4.0, it scores 66.4% against 55.8% for Fable 5.1, and costs 40% less than Opus 5. Input tokens are now $4 per million instead of $5, and output tokens are $20 instead of $25.

I use Opus 5 every day and switch to Fable 5.1 only for the most demanding tasks, because Fable costs more. If Opus 5.5 holds up to what the benchmarks show, the split between a "working" model and an "expensive" model in my workflow will most likely disappear.
