Digit 5: The humanoid robot that works safely without a protective cage.

Agility Robotics has unveiled its latest humanoid robot — Digit 5. Standing at 1.81 m tall and weighing 129 kg, this bot can lift a 22.7 kg payload (that’s 40% heavier than Digit 4). What makes Digit 5 special? Well, it’s the world’s first humanoid robot cleared for use without safety cages near people. This means Digit 5 can respond to humans by halting or moving out of the way. Digit 5 is also the first Nvidia Halos partner. And it’ll be available commercially starting early 2027 from Agility Robotics’ Oregon factory, where they can produce up to 10,000 bots per year.

Digit 4 has logged 65,000 hours of service at GXO, Amazon, and Schaeffler. It’s an embodied agent working within a body without a fixed location. So there’s no longer any question about whether physical AI will become a reality. The real question now is when.
