Gentoo developer Michał Górny pulled the plug on the bug tracker when it was scraped by thousands of different IPV4 addresses by LLM bots. Hedgewars also suffered the loss of its repository and bug tracker for the same reason.
Gentoo developer Michał Górny shuts down Gentoo’s official bug tracker on August 8. The bug tracker was scraped by thousands of different IPV4 addresses using LLM bots, and there seemed to be no way to block those IP addresses. “It’s pointless to try to stop AI bots from scraping,” says Michał. “I’m not a sysadmin, and I don’t have time for this.”
