Meta Launches Muse Code: A Rival to Claude Code and Codex
Meta has launched Muse Code, a terminal agent built on the Muse Spark model for large codebases, competing with Claude Code and Codex on both price and capability.
Meta has launched Muse Code — a terminal AI agent designed to work with large codebases. It runs on the new Muse Spark model and autonomously plans changes, writes code, and verifies results.
For complex tasks, Muse Code spins up dozens of sub-agents in parallel across isolated branches, leaving the developer's working copy untouched. In a demo, the agent simultaneously implemented six game features.
Muse Code is a direct competitor to OpenAI's Codex and Anthropic's Claude Code. Meta's AI lead Alexander Wang is betting on price, calling the product "particularly cost-effective." This is Meta's second enterprise AI launch in two months: in June, the company shipped a customer service agent.
