Microsoft Discloses Azure's Exact Revenue for the First Time
Microsoft has disclosed Azure's quarterly revenue in dollars for the first time: $33.2 billion, up 48%, beating both analyst estimates and the company's own forecast.
Microsoft disclosed its quarterly Azure revenue in dollars. Before this, the company only published percentage growth compared to prior quarters, so there was no way to compare it directly with Google Cloud. In Q3 (July through September), Azure brought in $33.2 billion. Azure is the business that rents out servers for deploying AI models. That is up 48% year over year, and $850 million above what analysts expected. Google Cloud, for comparison, brought in $30.7 billion, but it was growing almost twice as fast.
None of this says anything about the quality of their AI software. It only shows how much money they make from providing compute for deploying and training AI agents. Demand for that compute is clearly still huge. If you run AI agents in the cloud every day, this is a sign your bills will stay high. Whether Microsoft's Copilot, its AI assistant, actually works well or not, that question stops mattering much here.
