OpenAI Joins Google Cloud, Alongside Gemini and Claude
Starting October 21, Google Cloud offers three new OpenAI models — GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna — on the same bill as Gemini and Claude.
On October 21, 2026, Google Cloud opened access to three OpenAI models: GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna. GPT is OpenAI's family of AI models. This is a closed preview, available to a subset of corporate customers. The models are built into Gemini for Business, Google's AI-assistant-based product for companies, and into Google Antigravity. Billing for them runs through the same Google Cloud account as the company's other cloud costs. Google says this makes it the only cloud among major providers that runs OpenAI, Gemini, and Claude models side by side.
For companies, this mainly simplifies procurement. All three model lines now land on one Google Cloud bill, with no separate contract with OpenAI needed. In Claude Code, Anthropic's coding tool, Opus and Fable stay stronger for complex agentic tasks, regardless of which cloud physically hosts GPT. The idea worth borrowing here is to pay for models from different vendors through one account, then test each model on the narrow task it is actually meant for, instead of assuming one model wins at everything.
