Free Monocraft Font For Website & Application Use

I was working with someone on creating a fan website about Minecraft and we wanted to have the right font. Our agent was proposing different fonts from Google Fonts, some of them were close but some were far away from what we needed. There was no Minecraft feeling at all. And then I discovered Monocraft… and that was it!

This free font is created by the indie developer Idrees Incan. He has nothing to do with Mojang or Microsoft. Monocraft is recreating the original Minecraft pixel font into a fully functional monospaced font. With more than 1500 glyphs, programming ligatures and even the ‘enchantment table’ galactic alphabet. This font gives you the true Minecraft feeling and can be used in your projects.

To use this font on your website, you can use the jsDelivr CDN. No need to download anything. Just copy and paste one @font-face rule into your css file and it should work. If you want to use it in your Desktop app or Electron project, go to the Releases page and download the .ttc file. Install it as you would normally do with any other font. You can also use Homebrew casks on MacOS if you prefer.

Once you have added the @font-face rule, you can simply use font-family: 'Monocraft' in any part of your css file. The font size is around 700 KB, which is acceptable for most projects. If you want to set it as default, you can do something like this: body { font-family: 'Monocraft', monospace }. And if you are sending it to your agent, simply copy the @font-face rule and ask him/her to use Monocraft as a heading font.
