Make a Game With AI, No Code: Free Desktop App

OhMyGame is a free, open-source desktop app where one AI agent designs, builds, plays, and publishes a game from a plain description, with your own key.

When I ask an agent to put together a small game, the code part usually comes together fast, but the art, the sound, and the actual testing of whether the game plays well stay stuck in four or five separate tools, and moving a result from one of them into another takes real time.

Today's find puts all of that work inside one open-source app, so the same agent that writes the code also designs the game, makes the art and the sound, plays the result to check that it works, and publishes it to a link you can send to a friend.

The project calls itself OhMyGame, and in its own words it is your own one-person game studio: everything you need to make games with AI, in one app, and you bring your own key. The app is free to download for macOS and Windows, and it does not lock you into one model provider or charge per generation.

Regarding how it works, the whole studio sits on one canvas, where a design document, concept art, 3D models, and video sit side by side, and any one of them can grow into the next, a character sketch into a rigged 3D model, for example. The agent drives this canvas itself: it writes the design document, lays out the art, writes the game's code, opens the game in a window, plays it, and if it finds a problem, it tries a fix and plays again.

How to set it up

  1. 1Download the installer for macOS (Apple silicon) or Windows from the project's GitHub page, and open it; no terminal is needed.
  2. 2On first launch, connect a model by pasting an API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek, or another of the 40+ providers the app supports through its agent engine, called Pi.
  3. 3Type what game you want in the prompt box on the home screen, and the agent starts drafting a design document and the first art for it.
  4. 4When a build is ready, click Publish to get a link anyone can open in a browser; republishing later updates the same link.

At the moment, if you already work in Claude Code or Codex, OhMyGame can also act as a plugin for them: turn on the MCP Server option in Settings, and your usual coding agent gets access to the same canvas, the same image and video generation, and the same play-testing tools.

Run it from source instead (needs Bun and Node.js)
git clone --branch main https://github.com/WhiteTowerAI/ohmygame.git
cd ohmygame
bun install --frozen-lockfile
bun run dev
✓What you get

A free, open-source game studio where one agent designs, builds, plays, and publishes your game, instead of five separate tools you have to stitch together yourself, and you keep your own keys and your own files. The honest limit, by the project's own admission, is that it is still in beta, so expect rough edges and the occasional broken build.
