OpenAI Super PAC starts a news site to discredit competitors
A new website called Acutus Wire pretends to be an independent news source, but is actually run by an AI-powered Super PAC connected to OpenAI’s President.
Acutus Wire launched their website in December 2025 as an independent news organization. But we found out that 69% of their articles were generated fully by AI, they edit their articles in an average of 44 seconds, and they published 42 articles marked as “needs revision.” They’re tied to the Super PAC “Leading the Future” that has a $125 million war chest and is run by OpenAI’s President Greg Brockman, who deploys AI to go after Anthropic, advocates for AI regulation, and critics of the field.
This is the first case of using AI for political campaigning disguised as journalism, and it will reshape the debate about AI regulation.
