Pocket FM — $500M revenue with 99% AI generated content
Pocket FM, an Indian audio streaming service, has grown its revenue to $500M (up from ~$250M last year). It uses AI to create 99% of its content, which reduces production costs by 80x. More than 250M users listen to Pocket FM in more than 20 countries.
Pocket FM, a Bangalore based startup launched in 2018, generated $500M in revenue in 2026 (up from ~$250M last year). They are hosting audio serials and 93% of their total content & 99% of their new content is generated by AI. This change reduced the production cost by 80x, allowing them to release 100 hours of content within a day that would take one year otherwise.
Scale and Business Results
They have over 250M users in more than 20 countries. US is their main market (~70% of the revenue, growing at 70% YoY). They have over 770,000 audio serials on their platform. There are 96 audio serials that made more than $1M each and 13 of them made more than $10M each. They increased their 12 month paid user retention rate from 44% to 76%. They are profitable and raising $100–120M at a $2B valuation.
What This Changes for the Media Industry
This is the first instance where we see a media company giving AI the central role in their production process instead of using it as a tool. Audio was the easiest medium to be disrupted because there’s no visual element, no actors, no camera crew, just the story and the voice. Their standalone product Pocket Saga (only available in US, completely AI powered) launched 3 months ago and is already making $15M ARR.
