cinecode: an AI agent builds documentaries and ads in code
cinecode is a skill for Claude Code or Cursor: the agent writes the script, builds every frame in three.js and renders a finished MP4 - no video-generation model involved. It covers more than a short clip: documentaries, ads and music videos too.
cinecode installs as a skill for Claude Code or Cursor and works inside the usual chat with the agent: the script, every frame and the sound are put together in code, not by a video-generating neural network. The authors describe it plainly: "Films written in code" - each frame is a scene built in three.js and rendered in headless Chrome. There are several formats: a short clip made in one session (up to about 3 minutes), a longer documentary with fact-checked claims and sourced footage, an ad built around a specific product's colours and brand, a social-media explainer, and a music video synced to the song's beat grid and lyric lines. Narration is optional - if you want one, it runs on your own Gemini key (which has a free tier), ElevenLabs, or a built-in free Turkish voice; there is no paid subscription to cinecode itself. Before the whole film is built, the agent shows the first two scenes for approval, and the visual style - lit 3D, 2D animation, ink, clay, pixel art and others - stays the user's choice.
Why a vibe-coder should care
This closes a task that used to need either a team or a subscription to a video generator: a clip, an ad or even a documentary can come from a single sentence with an idea, staying inside the same chat with a coding agent you already use. A long film is built step by step with approvals, not with one click - the longer the film, the more time and agent usage it takes. The tool is very new (made a few days ago) and ships as a set of instructions for an agent rather than a finished app, so rough edges in the render pipeline are likely.
How to install
Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:
Install the cinecode skill from https://github.com/sarpstar/cinecode - set it up in Claude Code per the README, ask me for product or brand details if it's an ad, and make a short film up to about 3 minutes, then show me the finished MP4.
Runs on a regular laptop - rendering happens in a headless browser and through ffmpeg, no video card or cloud video-AI needed; the cost is the time and usage of your existing Claude Code or Cursor plan, not a separate subscription.
