Linear: AI Coding Made CI the Bottleneck
Linear recently overhauled their CI workflow since agents were producing more changes than they could handle. If not for the improvements, the time it would take to run their tests would be about 11 minutes, when it’s currently at 5.5.
Linear recently updated its CI flow to accommodate the growing number of code changes being pushed by its agents. Without these updates, the time required to test their codebase would increase from ~5.5 minutes to ~11 minutes.
When starting out with Claude Code, I noticed that CI was quickly becoming a major roadblock. One example provided by Linear was that they were able to reduce their TypeScript compilation time by 52–73% and linting time by 68% by switching to tsgo. Use this as inspiration for setting up your own CI flow!
