Meta trains your phone to create games based on descriptions.

Meta has announced two artificial intelligence (AI) game editors: Meta’s Horizon Create, which runs on mobile, and Meta’s Horizon Studio, which runs on a web browser. Using these, users can describe a game with text, and Meta will create a 2D or 3D game, with mechanics and even multiplayer capability, from that. This game can then be fine-tuned with a manual editor in Horizon Studio, and published directly, without installation, within Facebook, Instagram, and Horizon.

Text-to-game is nothing new — we’ve seen this feature in many different tools. But the novelty here is that the game can be published to the Facebook, Instagram, and Horizon userbase, directly, without going through a store or an installation process. This is a great distribution channel for products with agents. Of course, the game will live within Meta’s ecosystem, and it will undergo an automatic age rating check before publication. I’ve noticed that almost all textually generated games require extensive manual editing and tuning — Horizon Studio comes with a built-in manual editor to handle this.
