Meta Acquires AI Coding Startup Conductor
Meta bought Conductor, a startup that runs teams of AI coding agents in parallel on different parts of a project; its cloud service shuts down on November 20, 2026.
Meta (social media & AI) acquires Conductor (parallel AI code agents). Conductor is a startup founded by CEO Charlie Holtz in 2024. It provides a service where you can deploy many AI code agents simultaneously across various sections of your software code base (in the cloud, locally, or even on mobile). These are not Conductor’s agents, but those developed by top AI research groups like Anthropic & OpenAI. Price of acquisition undisclosed. Key functionality remains available until early next year, but their cloud platform goes offline on November 20th 2026 when all your cloud data gets wiped out. Holtz says they’ll release an updated UI by early 2027.
This is yet another case of an AI agent startup being acquired. Their cloud platform goes offline in less than 3 weeks (only a couple weeks worth of time to switch over), and core features get cut off completely next year. Note that Conductor doesn’t have any agents of their own, they use Anthropic/OpenAI models so they’re really just another layer on top of someone else’s tech. These types of services tend to be among the first things cut off when large corporations acquire startups purely for talent/ideas instead of products. Using these kinds of startups as key components has always been risky.
