Apple relaunches Siri on google gemni with ios 27
Apple launches a major update to Siri as part of iOS 27, macOS 27 & visionOS 27. It runs on Google Gemini models, with local and private cloud compute. It now supports multi-step tasks and on-screen context.
First tests reveal that Siri is able to perform multi-task actions and to provide contextual information on screen. Furthermore, it seems to work with third party applications such as WhatsApp, Outlook, Audible, Notability or Tripsy. At the moment, it’s only working in English (EU/China launch suspended).
Siri is still hallucinating and making mistakes when providing personal context. However, let’s face it, we haven’t seen Siri being able to do multi-task actions and to provide contextual information on screen for a long time. This is Apple’s first baby step towards an agentive AI Assistant. So, let’s not get too excited right now.
