Apple has shipped a completely rebuilt Siri in iOS 27 and macOS 27 — powered by Google Gemini, with on-screen context awareness and multi-step task support.

Apple has shipped a completely rebuilt Siri as part of iOS 27, macOS 27, and visionOS 27 — running on Google Gemini models, partly on-device and partly through Private Cloud Compute. The assistant now understands context from messages, mail, and photos, reads the screen, and carries out tasks in third-party apps — WhatsApp, Outlook, Audible, Notability, and Tripsy. It's currently available in English only; rollout in the EU and China is on hold for now.

As a vibe coder who works with agents every day, I'm looking at Siri without irony for the first time — the on-screen context and multi-step tasks that were missing for years are finally here. Early tests are honest, though: hallucinations and failures with personal context haven't gone away. This is Apple's first real step toward an agentic assistant, and expecting miracles from the first release is premature.
