Mark Zuckerberg has published an essay titled "A Future for Everyone" — 6,500 words on why superintelligence should not remain in the hands of a few companies. Meta plans to invest $145 billion in 2026 and $600 billion through 2028 — primarily in building data centers. Down the road, the company intends to sell their compute capacity through a dynamic auction mechanism modeled on Facebook's ad-slot system: prices set by real-time demand.

2The Right to Learn From Other Models

Zuckerberg openly defends distillation — the practice of training models on the outputs of other companies' AI models. His formulation: "the principle worth defending — that you can learn from anything you can observe." This is a direct challenge to OpenAI and Anthropic, who consider distillation theft. If Meta's position becomes established in law, building a competitive AI system from scratch will become significantly cheaper for the entire market.
