ChatGPT Voice Can Now Write Emails and Cancel Payments

OpenAI has moved ChatGPT's voice mode to new models called GPT-6 Astra, Sol, and Luna. The voice mode now has access to email, calendar, Slack, and financial apps. You can simply ask it out loud to check your calendar, send an email, or cancel a subscription payment that charges you every month. OpenAI is calling this a step toward the voice assistant from the movie "Her." Sam Altman referenced that same film back in 2024, when the first voice version of ChatGPT launched.

A voice agent that cancels payments and sends emails on its own is not a chatbot anymore. It is an action taken in the real world without confirmation, and here trust matters more than speed. From my own experience working with agents, I know these tasks rarely go perfectly on the first try. When money or a message to a real person is on the line, I would keep a review step before sending. I would not hand the agent the final decision. The technology has clearly improved. But it is too early to call it the assistant from "Her."
