Google Maps Goes Agentic: Orders Food, Books Hotels, and Reads Your Gmail

Google has updated Maps: "Ask Maps" no longer just searches — it acts. Ask it to find a vegan café near your home and the map will pick a restaurant and place an order through Uber Eats or Square. The same flow works for hotels, concerts, and event tickets — all in a single conversation that Maps remembers.

The headline feature: Maps now has access to Gmail and Google Calendar — disabled by default, but one tap gives the agent visibility into real bookings and flights. A built-in agent with access to personal data in a product with a billion-user audience is a fundamentally different kind of search. "Ask" is becoming a synonym for "do."
