Google Maps Becomes Proactive, Placing Restaurant Orders, Booking Hotels and Reading Emails.

Google has recently updated their Google maps application so that instead of just searching for something, you can tell Google maps to do something for you. For instance, you could tell google maps to find you a local vegan restaurant and place an order through either ubereats or square. Or even better, you can book hotels, concert/event tickets all within one google map action.

But what’s really cool about this is the integration between Google maps and your gmail/google calendar. By default this is disabled, but you can enable this feature with a single click so that the agent can pull up your real schedule and travel plans. With this internal agent having access to our personal data on a billion user platform such as google maps, our search experience will be revolutionized. Instead of saying “Ask me”, we will soon be saying “Do me”.
